Youth the focus

Premier Ujjal Dosanjh is moving to take action on the problems of youths with drug or alcohol or addictions, or who are being sexually exploited.

Dosanjh told The Province he'll host a meeting Tuesday to find a strategy to move forward on providing some type of "secure care" for youths who are in immediate and acute danger.

The "secure care" model is based on one now in effect in Alberta that allows police to seize underage youth for 72 hours without charging them criminally when they're being sexually exploited.
