Day's jail for killing

TORONTO — A former male prostitute who suffers from paranoid schizophrenia was sented to one day in jail and three year's probation yesterday for stabbing his ex-lover to death.

David Mellish, 33, pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

In 1994, John Wilson, 60, a veteran of the Toronto theatre scene who once was a stage manager with the National Ballet of Canada, was stabbed to death.

The two men had a sexual relationship for about six years. Wilson had found a new companion at the time of the attack, court heard.

Mellish was found four times to be unfit to stand trial on a second-degree murder charge because of mental illness.
