Suite used as brothel

Vancouver's last homicide victim was killed in a swank Yaletown brothel, according to police.

Jeffrey Bian, 29, died after being stabbed at a condo at 1067 Marinaside Cres. just after midnight June 11.

Police revealed yesterday suite #1802 — the murder scene — was actually being used as a "brothel."

Insp. Rob Rothwell said Bian had been renting the condo for five months and had a role running the brothel — until robbers burst in the night he was killed.

"[The suite] was targeted for robbery for that reason … in the belief that those individuals would be reluctant to come to [police]," Rockwell explained.

On June 19, 20-year-old Justin Lam was charged with first-degree murder, unlawful confinement, use of an imitation firearm and robbery.

Another 20-year-old, Derick Wong, also faces the latter charges, but is accused of manslaughter instead of murder.
