Bangladeshi sex workers join protest for security after one killed

DHAKA, Sept 9 — Some 100 sex workers took to the streets of the Bangladeshi capital Dhaka on Tuesday to demand security after one of their colleagues was killed.

"We want security or else the authorities should give us jobs," said a leader of sex workers' group Ulka Nari Sangha (Meteor Women's Organisation).

"We want justice for the murder of our sister," she said.

The middle-aged sex worker was killed by unidentified criminals on Sunday in downtown Dhaka. Her body was found by police, the group said. Rights groups allege sex workers are often victims of rape or murder by criminal gangs and security personnel.
