Walnet Traffic Report -- March 1997Walnet was started over just over one year ago, with a website for the Sex Workers Alliance of Vancouver. Finally now, the site is starting to pull together in terms of structure and look. Walnet uses one domain to realize a vision of a publishing house on the web. The "house," or "domain" has many rooms and like 97 Walnut is safe refuge for ideas and critical thought -- even if they are unpopular. Walnet believes that information should be free. And in turn information will help set us free. Freedom through information. Pass it on.
December 6, 1995 to March 16, 1997We ran an analysis program on all of walnet.org domain access logs since December 6 1995 (To March 16, 1997) when the site was first set up on the server. During that fifteen months we served up 246,094 pages. This analysis is not based on the number of "hits" but rather in the number of .html files or pages (as opposed to images and .gif buttons etc.) that were successfully downloaded from the server. In the month of February 1996 Walnet.org served up 13,382 pages. In February 1997 Walnet served 30,906 pages. This represents a growth of 131 per cent!
First quarter 1997(Dec. 20, 1996 to March 16, 1997)During this three-month period, Walnet transferred 1,396 Mbytes of data, 32,068 kbytes in the last week, averaging 16,629 kbytes a day. Walnet served to 18,753 distinct hosts, 460 in the last week. Walnet served up 85,548 pages. It breaks down like this: Commercial Sex Information Service Commercial Sex Information Service served out 71,634 pages or 83.73% of all of walnet.org. There is much to see on CSIS: There are 631 items (5.6 Mbytes) in the CSIS directories. Forty per cent of these, or aproximately 252 items, are .html pages. (Of 127 items in the Groups directory 50 are pages -- 39.37%).
